Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of TextTrace.
By downloading, using, or subscribing to TextTrace, you agree to these Terms and Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
If these additional Terms conflict with Apple’s Standard EULA regarding application licensing or Apple’s obligations, Apple’s Standard EULA controls.

Eligibility and License
You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to accept these Terms.
If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must review and approve your use of TextTrace.
TextTrace grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the application on Apple-branded devices as permitted by Apple’s Standard EULA.
All rights not expressly granted remain with TextTrace and its licensors.
What TextTrace Does
TextTrace converts supported conversation sources into records that can be reviewed, searched, organized, and exported.
Supported sources may include:
- Supported chat export files and attachments
- Supported data selected from an iPhone backup
- Screenshots
- Photos and scans
- Screen recordings
- Voice-message files
Visual sources may be processed with Google Vision OCR through the TextTrace backend. Supported structured chat files may be parsed directly.
Supported applications, source formats, export formats, and features may change over time.
Free Access and TextTrace Pro
TextTrace may allow users without an active subscription to:
- Explore the application
- Import supported content
- Review generated records
- Search or organize records
PDF, printing, Excel/CSV, plain text, RSMF, HTML, long-image, attachment sharing, and other export or sharing functions may require an active TextTrace Pro subscription.
The exact features included with TextTrace Pro are shown on the paywall before purchase.
Your Content
You retain all rights that you hold in the content you select or import. TextTrace does not claim ownership of your content.
You grant TextTrace and its service providers a limited permission to host, copy, transmit, process, organize, and format your content only as necessary to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and support the service.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights and permissions to collect, process, record, import, and share the content.
This responsibility includes complying with privacy, communications secrecy, recording, personal data, intellectual property, employment, and other laws that may protect conversation participants.
Recognition and Export Accuracy
Google Vision OCR, participant detection, sender identification, message ordering, timestamps, attachments, and generated exports may contain errors or omissions.
TextTrace does not guarantee that:
- Every visible message will be recognized
- Every participant or sender will be identified correctly
- Dates or timestamps will always be interpreted correctly
- Every attachment will be associated correctly
- Generated documents will be identical to the original application
- OCR results will be complete or error-free
You must compare important results with the retained source before relying on or sharing an export.
You should maintain an independent backup of important source material.
Not Legal or Forensic Certification
TextTrace is an organization and export tool. It is not a law firm, notary, court, expert witness, evidence custodian, or forensic certification service, and it does not provide legal advice.
A retained source, SHA-256 hash, manifest, OCR result, or exported document does not by itself establish:
- Authenticity
- Completeness
- Chain of custody
- Legal admissibility
- Evidentiary weight
- Legal sufficiency
Requirements vary by jurisdiction and proceeding. Obtain qualified professional advice before relying on TextTrace for legal, regulatory, employment, investigative, or evidentiary purposes.
Acceptable Use
You must not use TextTrace to:
- Violate privacy, communications secrecy, recording, intellectual property, sanctions, export-control, or other applicable laws
- Process content that you have no right to access or use
- Harass, exploit, threaten, or harm another person
- Distribute malware or malicious content
- Attempt unauthorized access to TextTrace systems or another user’s data
- Bypass security, subscription, usage, or processing limits
- Reverse engineer TextTrace except where applicable law expressly permits it
- Interfere with the operation of the application or backend
- Present a modified or incomplete export as an unchanged original
You are responsible for your use of TextTrace and for any content or export you disclose.
Auto-Renewable Subscriptions
TextTrace Pro may be offered as weekly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions.
The exact subscription name, duration, localized price, and any introductory offer are shown before purchase.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
The subscription renews automatically for the same subscription period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Apple may charge the renewal amount within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.
Deleting TextTrace, deleting records, or deleting the anonymous TextTrace account does not cancel the subscription.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid subscription period.
You may use Restore Purchases to restore an eligible active purchase.
Trials, Billing, and Refunds
A free trial or introductory price applies only if it is displayed by Apple during the purchase process.
Apple, not TextTrace, processes App Store payments, taxes, renewals, cancellations, and refunds.
RevenueCat validates transaction and subscription entitlement information but does not process your credit or debit card payment.
Refund requests must be submitted to Apple and are governed by Apple’s policies and applicable law.
Except where required by Apple’s policies or applicable law, unused subscription time is not refundable or transferable.
Privacy and Third-Party Services
The TextTrace Privacy Policy explains how information is processed.
Parts of the service rely on Apple, Google Cloud, Firebase, Google Vision, and RevenueCat. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
Their availability and actions may be outside TextTrace’s direct control.
Except as provided in Apple’s Standard EULA, Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for TextTrace. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms to the extent provided by the Standard EULA.
Availability, Updates, and Termination
We may update, patch, add, limit, suspend, or discontinue features for security, reliability, compatibility, legal compliance, or service-provider availability.
We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted availability
- Permanent support for every source format
- Error-free OCR
- Error-free exports
- Compatibility with every future version of a third-party application
You may stop using TextTrace at any time.
We may restrict or terminate access in response to a material violation, abuse, security risk, fraud, or legal obligation.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment, disclaimers, and limitations of liability—will continue to apply.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to Apple’s Standard EULA, TextTrace is provided “as is” and “as available.”
We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TextTrace is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profit, opportunity, reputation, or data.
TextTrace is not responsible for decisions made based on OCR results, participant identification, timestamps, generated records, or exported documents.
These limitations do not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when the product, subscriptions, service providers, security requirements, or applicable law changes.
Material changes will be identified through a revised effective date and any notice required by law.
Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms where permitted by law.
Governing Terms and Contact
These Terms, Apple’s Standard EULA, Apple’s purchase terms, and any mandatory law applicable to you govern your use of TextTrace.
