A direct import—not OCR
WhatsApp transcript text is read from the TXT file. It is not reconstructed from screenshots, does not use Google Vision, and consumes no cloud OCR quota.
Attachments missing from the exported ZIP cannot be recreated. Review the record against the retained export before sharing it.

- Export. In WhatsApp, use Export Chat and choose whether to include media.
- Import. Select the TXT or ZIP in TextTrace.
- Review. Search and check the parsed messages and mapped attachments.
- Export. Create PDF, CSV, HTML, TXT, long PNG, or RSMF 2.0.

Frequently asked questions
Should I choose TXT or ZIP?
Use the ZIP when you want to keep attachments that WhatsApp included with the transcript. A TXT import contains the transcript only.
Can TextTrace recover deleted WhatsApp messages?
No. TextTrace can only process content present in the export or supported unencrypted backup you select.
Does TextTrace bypass encrypted iPhone backups?
No. The Mac importer reads only unencrypted Finder or iTunes backups. TextTrace does not bypass backup encryption.
Does a checksum make an export legally admissible?
No. A SHA-256 checksum can help you check whether a file changed. It does not establish authenticity, completeness, admissibility, or legal sufficiency.
