Prepare a supported iPhone backup on Mac.
TextTrace’s Mac importer requires an unencrypted local Finder or iTunes backup. It does not bypass encryption or modify the backup.

Create the backup
- Connect the iPhone to the Mac and approve the trust prompt.
- Open Finder and select the iPhone in the sidebar. On older macOS versions, use iTunes.
- Choose to back up the iPhone to this Mac.
- Make sure local backup encryption is turned off.
- Choose Back Up Now and wait for completion.
Use it in TextTrace
Open TextTrace on Mac, choose the backup import route, and select the supported local backup. The backup remains on the Mac. Review what the app can read; availability can vary with iOS and WhatsApp versions.

Does TextTrace bypass encrypted iPhone backups?
No. The Mac importer reads only unencrypted Finder or iTunes backups. TextTrace does not bypass backup encryption.
Does a checksum make an export legally admissible?
No. A SHA-256 checksum can help you check whether a file changed. It does not establish authenticity, completeness, admissibility, or legal sufficiency.
