A useful chat screen recording is slow, scoped, and easy to verify.
Before recording
- Confirm you are authorized to capture the conversation.
- Close unrelated apps and enable Do Not Disturb so private notifications do not enter the source.
- Set a readable text size and stable screen orientation.
- Load older messages and media before starting; do not depend on content appearing mid-scroll.
- Note the requested start and end messages outside the recording.
During recording
Move in one direction. Pause after each scroll so every line is sharp in multiple frames, and pause longer on dates, participant changes, replies, and attachments. Avoid opening reactions, keyboards, menus, or picture-in-picture overlays unless they are part of the requested context. Apple notes that some apps may not allow audio or video recording; TextTrace cannot bypass that restriction.
After recording: acceptance test
If any answer is no, repeat the affected segment before deleting anything. Visual extraction is not a substitute for reviewing the recording.

How fast should I scroll?
Slow enough that each line is fully sharp for more than one frame. Test a short sample and inspect it at normal size before recording the full scope.
Can screen recording capture every chat app?
No. Apple says some apps may block audio or video recording. Respect the app’s controls and use another authorized source route when available.
