Start with audio, not transcript text
WhatsApp also offers its own optional voice message transcripts on supported devices, but availability and language support can vary. In TextTrace, an available supported voice attachment can be selected for Apple Speech transcription on device. The transcript becomes searchable context while the audio remains the source to check.
Do not describe machine-generated text as a verbatim quotation until a person has listened to the corresponding passage.

If WhatsApp did not include the audio in the ZIP, TextTrace cannot reconstruct it from a filename reference. Return to the source device and follow the recipient’s approved collection process.
Search responsibly
Transcription makes names, dates, and topics easier to locate, but accents, background noise, multiple speakers, and technical terms can produce errors. Use the transcript to find a passage, then play the audio. For an attorney, HR reviewer, or client dispute, mark uncertain wording instead of silently converting a guess into a fact.

No. When a supported imported audio attachment is available, you select it for on-device transcription. Availability depends on the source file, audio format, device, and supported language.
Can I rely on the transcript without listening?
No. Speech recognition can make errors. Use the transcript for search and review important passages against the retained audio.
